Video of the Day part 1: Making Movies - Sirena
So our new friends The Chevy Music Showcase started up a local music showcase series for Kansas City bands. They were sweet enough to invite Making Movies to record their song Sirena off their Aguardiente EP. This has been one of our favorite songs we have released this year and does a good job of showing why there is a lot of cool things going on with this band.
Check out this sweet video for some our good friends over at Oddly Correct! They make some of our favorite coffee. I pretty much drink it daily. It is soundtracked by several clips of songs from Capybara’s latest album Dave Drusky. I think I might go make a cup right now.

Song of the Day: Making Movies - Hangover Blues
If you are not familiar with the band Making Movies you will be in the near future. The new ep Aguardiente showcases the band’s use Afro-Latino rhythms but also finds the bi-lingual band experimenting with vocal loops and expansive textures intermixed alongside Montunos, Bata grooves, Puerto Rican Cuatro riffs and Bembe bell patterns. This latest single Hangover Blues does a good job of crossing the gap between their strengths in latin pop and indie rock. They have spent the last year opening for acts like Fun, Neon Indian, Ozomatli, Los Lobos and Mariachi El Bronx.
The new ep Aguardiente from Making Movies is now available on itunes or get the 7” in our online store.

La Guerre - 17 (Youth Lagoon Cover)
Here is La Guerre doing a fantastic minimal cover of one of our favorites from last year 17. Her minimal send up highlights the fragile nature of the original but brings a new feminine side to it.
We are really excited for La Guerre’s 3 song ep Savannah>Jacksonville that we are putting out next month.
