So excited to see Capybara make this list.

Song of the Day: Capybara- Neighbor Crimes

Well 2012 is winding down here in Record Machine Land. We had the awesome opportunity to release some of the best records in our 9 year history this year. Capybara’s second full length Dave Drusky came out in February as our first release of 2012. Our favorite moment of theirs this year was at Middle of the Map Fest(like many of our favorite memories of the year.) They opened for the always wonderful Mates of State and Murder By Death.

Dave Drusky is still is our best selling record so far this year. We still have plenty of copies in our online store though.

Capybara is named in the Top 15 releases of the year so far by The Wild Honey Pie

5. Capybara – Dave Drusky: Having missed Capybara’s (@capybaramusic) debut LP in 2009, this album seemed to come completely out of nowhere. Dave Drusky is one of the most consistently amazing albums I’ve come across this year, each track just as well crafted as the one before. Of course, I have my favorites: “Late Night Bikes”, “Rain Apollo Trees”, “Pierre Bensusan” — but there’s so much greatness contained in this ten-song collection that it’s impossible to not to forcibly suggest this as a start-to-finish listen. — Eric Weiner

Check out this sweet video for some our good friends over at Oddly Correct! They make some of our favorite coffee. I pretty much drink it daily.  It is soundtracked by several clips of songs from Capybara’s latest album Dave Drusky. I think I might go make a cup right now.

Video of the Day: Capybara - Dave Drusky

So its finally here. The epic yet very Capy Late Night Bikes video. Watch to see the real Dave Drusky escaping to the streets of Portland for some late night bike riding. He runs into some unusual characters and some fantastical moments.

Song of the Day: Capybara - Wild (In Reverse)

When we got the test pressing of the vinyl we tried to find out if their were any hidden messages instead we found this beautiful ambiance. Thankfully the guys were able to re-create it digitally for you all to enjoy. Just don’t look into the mirror with the lights off while playing.

Capybara will be traveling to SXSW in the coming weeks. If you have any shows that you would like them to play please let us know.

Upcoming shows

3/10 @Riot Room with Everyday/Everynight 9PM

3/15 @SXSW -18th Floor of the Hilton Garden Inn 8PM

Crafting a sound as serene as the eerie mist lofted above the rainforest canopy, they make sure to take your ears to the forest floor where they’re bound to hear some crazy, colorful noises.

The melodies in this track have a musk all their own and the guitar versus keys dichotomy are played pitch perfectly.

Neighbor Crimes” rings as idyllic, troubled and completely elevating, a family garage where the electric guitars sound like lions, the pianos ride the off-beat, and the next destination is undeniably elsewhere.
