Our buddies Spirit is the Spirit played with Hospital Ships at the Record Bar Saturday, the two Lawrence bands provided a lot of good tunes for the night.
We have some copies of our Record Store Day with Golden Sound Record’s pals in the store.

This really makes my day. Thank you all for the overwhelming support for @kcmusicfest. Two days till the fest begins.
Reusch says there’s more to it than hard work, though. The secret is to work smart. “We work with the bands directly. It’s really a partnership. Labels can no longer just be bank accounts.” Instead, the Record Machine’s approach is hands-on — refining a band’s image and creative process in addition to focusing on promotion and finances. This collaboration has proved to be an easy process for local bands. In some cases, as with Soft Reeds’ Grimes, one of the Record Machine owners lives right down the street.

Yesterday we had a @lerecordmachine label bbq. It was really fun to have everyone from almost all of our Kansas City bands show up. Some good pork tenderlion, brats, and tons of beer was had by all. We even had some of the new beer from Free State in Lawrence.

Saharan Gazelle Boy - Something I Want to Know About You
I spent a good chunk of this week going through hundreds of unread EOTB emails and was happy to find this new single from Saharan Gazelle Boy, the solo project from Darin Seal of Capybara. From the second the beat dropped in the beginning I knew I would like this tune. It’s a really lovable number with a catchy chorus and a well composed pop style. I really hope there’s a cool music video in the works! It doesn’t look like Saharan Gazelle Boy is performing live yet, but make sure to see Capybara at SXSW if you’ll be there.
Thanks Ears of the Beholder! That beat gets me every time to. Capybara has been playing this song as part of their live set and Darin has done a few low key sets with Capybara backing him. Hopefully more of those to come!
Song Of The Day: Capybara - Wild
Here is a new song from Capybara called Wild that they recorded for our good friends over at Mushpot. They released a great compilation called Future Music that you can download for free at www.mushpotrecords.com. The Mushpot name might seem familiar and it is because you hopefully saw they are helping out with our showcase this year at SXSW.
As far as the song goes it is a beautiful slow burner that is likely to find itself on repeat. The guys have been playing it live recently and it sounds really amazing. This is the kind of song that should wet your appetite. For you can quench it with Try Brother which this perfectly right along.

This past fall we held a remix contest for Capybara’s song The Wimp and our friend and KC native John Bersuch(from Bacon Shoe) made a really bad ass remix which you can hear above. Well we invited him out to a Capybara show to give him his prize of The World Largest Gummy Bear. We want to thank John for the awesome remix.
